Oh my goodness! I can't believe it's almost been three months since I launched this blog on February 23. To celebrate the three month milestone I'm thinking it will be fun to do a little series of threes.
This first one is about three fails in the last three months. (Mind you, this particular piece could also be titled "Three Hundred Big Fails ..." because this has certainly been a learning experience with a curve!) Here goes:
* * *
First Fail: Staying in a 'dry cabin' for two nights while I was in Alaska! Yawsa. What the hay hay was I thinking? Walking through snow in the dark laughing hysterically with my daughter and trying to make it to the bathroom in time since I only had one pair of ski pants. I must have been having an out of body experience to even consider staying here much less book the cabin and actually stay!
This wasn't an absolute fail as my daughter and I had a fun time at Chena and we saw the Northern Lights - but - I don't think Mama will be staying in a dry cabin again! When I blogged about this event (post is here) I said I'd go back there if I was at Chena Hot Springs again and I meant it but I'm bettin' I won't be in the neighborhood anytime soon. 😜
Second Fail Story: Y'all know I had hip replacement surgery in 2016. Ten months later I went to Southeast Asia, where I:
✈️ maneuvered through SFO at a very fast pace to make connecting flight to Singapore;
🚂 walked on train tracks through a busy crowded market;
🚢 🛶 safely climbed in/out of boats of all sizes- w/w/o steps/ramp and downright tricky; and
🚶♀️ probably walked over 100 miles (seriously) with no problem.
From Asia I went to Alaska via SFO and SEA with no issues. While in Alaska, I:
🚗 drove over 900 miles without incident;
⛷ hiked in snow with no slips;
🛄 managed my own luggage (which was a feat as I had two large bags for Asia & Alaska); and
🏃🏽♀️ for the most part, kept up with my in-shape 26 year old daughter.
From Alaska I went home to Tampa. And after:
📅 19 accident free days; and
🚢 ✈️ 🚶♀️ 🚘 over 30,000 miles ...
Second Fail: I FELL FLAT ON MY FACE IN THE TAMPA AIRPORT! Just tripped on my own two feet. Of course, the person who happened to be walking by was a young man that looked like he just walked off the GQ cover. Geez Louise, really? I was so embarrassed as he helped me up and then to make it worse - he was so nice and felt he should watch after me until I got on and off the airport shuttle! Whaa.
(Thank goodness I don't have a photo to share of the actual fall. But here's a snap of my daughter and granddaughter arriving at TPA and P.F. Changs & Hard Rock Cafe that are in the terminal.)
Fail Three Story: We were in Jamaica and I wanted to see Floyd's Pelican Bar. So we took a $200, two hour car ride and arrived at Paratee Point. For $40 we then got on a 'boat' (I couldn't look but the guy was literally bailing water out of the boat with a cut up milk jug) that took us the half mile off shore to Floyd's. This bar is made entirely of drift wood and touts being the most unique place to drink a Red Stripe! Well, it is unique alright.
Now, one may wonder why did I decide to make a video when I was sunburned with no makeup on and the wind was whipping my hair so bad that it was hurting my face. I'm curious about this myself! Obviously not my smartest move ever. Oh well. Live and learn eh? Glad we went because who knows when I'll get a chance to go to a bar that's just sitting in the sea again.
🥂 Here's to three more months of learning by trial and error. 🥂
If you've got a fail you want to share - please do in the comments below. I'd love to know I'm not alone!
